The Emerald EQC system did not use additives; it was only sand and resin. Resin percentages ranged from 0.8% to 1.4%. The resin percentage didn't affect casting results as expected. All stepcones cores were processed and evaluated. The results were highly comparable, leading to the conclusion that the new Emerald series could reduce or eliminate the need for sand additives without causing veining, therefore presenting cost reduction opportunities. Emerald EQC Conventional 0.75% with no sand additive 1% resin 55/45 1% resin 55/45 BULK CURE SPEEDS The new resin system has improved bulk cure speeds. This allows foundries to cure more cores in less time, increasing output and reducing costs. Traditional vegetable oil methyl esters are derived from Linoleic Acid, 55% soybean oil, which contain larger, and well-bent disruptive chains. The methyl esters used, were derived from Palmitic/Steric Acid-50%, and contain smaller, straight chains which are easier for Part-1 and Part-2 to align and easier for amine to go through.
